The Bombay High Court at Goa has allowed fully vaccinated people, whether tourists or not,for entering the state without providing a negative RT PCR test report. The Goa government had submitted an application in the High Court for letting in fully vaccinated people in the state.
In mid-July, the High Court had permitted fully vaccinated people to enter Goa without a negative certificate;however, the exception was not for tourists. Those coming to Goa for tourism purposes were required to produce their negative PCR certificate even if they are fully vaccinated. As per HC orders, a person is considered fully vaccinated when he/she completes two weeks since his/her second COVID vaccine dose.
However, on Monday, the HC modified its order and allowed fully vaccinated people to enter Goa. Advocate Nikhil Pai, who represented the South Goa Advocates Association said, “The High Court has allowed the application by the state government where people who are fully vaccinated, post 14 days of their second dose, can enter Goa without an RT-PCR negative test or a rapid antigen test.”
Kids above two years will have to come with their negative PCR report. Symptomatic children below two years will have to carry a PCR report. The government of Goa has extended the COVID-19 curfew till 6 September. So far,Goa has reported 1.74 lakh COVID-19 positive cases since the pandemic started.
