Boost for Kozhikode: Direct Flights to Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Colombo Coming Soon

Kozhikode Airport gears up for expansion with new flights to Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and more, boosting tourism and business connectivity.

Operations at Kozhikode Airport are poised for a significant expansion, with airlines unveiling plans to link the airport to destinations in Malaysia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. A recent gathering of airline representatives at the airport also highlighted intentions to initiate new flights to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and to enhance local flight options to Thiruvananthapuram and New Delhi.

Malaysia’s Asir Asia has shown interest in starting flights to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, whereas Sri Lanka’s Fits Air has indicated its eagerness to begin flights to Colombo. These airlines aim to launch these routes in the coming months. The introduction of flights to Colombo and Kuala Lumpur is expected to improve connections to destinations in the Far East, including Singapore, the Philippines, and Australia, as well as to other countries such as China, Japan, and Vietnam, catering to a wide audience of tourists, students, and business travelers. The Kozhikode Airport Authority, in collaboration with the Al-Hind group, organized this meeting.

Key Resolutions:
1) A representative from Air India Express assured that the airline would introduce additional domestic flights from Kozhikode, including a new route to Thiruvananthapuram.
2) Indian carrier Akash Air and Singapore’s Scoot Airline recognized the importance of Kozhikode Airport and confirmed their consideration for it.
3) An official from Indigo Airlines discussed plans to reinstate its service to Dammam, which had been previously discontinued.
4) Flynas and Spice Jet announced their intentions to start flights to Riyadh, building on their existing services to the city.
