In February 2024, Bottega Veneta will unveil its new store in Mumbai, a space brought to life using a selection of materials and craftsmanship techniques originating from the Veneto region. This approach is integral to expressing Bottega Veneta’s distinct identity, which permeates not just the furnishings but the entire store, fostering a uniquely inviting ambiance.
Spanning 160 square meters, the store’s design prominently features concrete and walnut wood. Concrete, a material commonly associated with industrial settings, is given a new dimension of elegance and timelessness by incorporating traditional craftsmanship, thereby intertwining elements of history, contemporary aesthetics, and future possibilities. This material is cleverly utilized to form surfaces and structures such as planters and jewelry showcases that emerge seamlessly from the floor.
The warmth of walnut wood and the incorporation of plush textures add to the store’s cozy and friendly vibe, resonating with the sensory appeal of Bottega Veneta’s fashion lines. The store also features bouclé fabric upholstery, a nod to the fabric used in Bottega Veneta’s previous Ready-to-wear collections.
Highlighting the store’s unique design elements is a bespoke concrete coffee table by Belgian artist Bram Vanderbeke. Specially commissioned for this location, Vanderbeke is known for his “rhythmic” approach to art and design, producing works that enhance or redefine the spatial dynamics of their surroundings. Based in Ghent, he is a co-founder of BRUT, a collective spotlighting emerging Belgian designers, and collaborates with notable groups and galleries such as Dutch Invertuals, Atelier Ecru, Galerie VIVID, and Nilufar Gallery.
The Mumbai store offers a wide array of Bottega Veneta products, including leather goods, footwear, accessories, and jewelry for both men and women, embodying the brand’s luxury craftsmanship and aesthetic elegance.
