U.S., Argentina, Brazil, and Latin America see Iberia’s biggest expansion in 2025 with record flights, increased frequencies, and new routes.

The airline, part of the IAG group, has planned more than 3.2 million seats for Latin American destinations—reflecting a 4% rise from 2024—across over 300 weekly flights.
In the U.S. market, Iberia will ramp up its operations with a 14% increase in weekly flights, reaching 140 and offering over 1.1 million seats.

Buenos Aires and São Paulo will see the most substantial growth, each adding three additional weekly flights. This brings Buenos Aires to 21 weekly services and São Paulo to 14. The Argentine capital will benefit from three daily flights, further reinforcing Iberia’s leadership on the route.
Lima will gain an extra frequency, allowing for two daily flights from May onward. Meanwhile, Mexico City and Bogotá will continue operating three flights per day. Montevideo and Quito will maintain their daily connections.

In Santiago de Chile, the airline will start with 10 weekly flights and increase to 11 in June, expanding its reach in the Southern Cone. Rio de Janeiro will remain at five weekly flights, while Caracas will fluctuate between three and five, depending on demand. Guayaquil will continue with three weekly services.
For Central America and the Caribbean, Iberia’s offerings will stay largely consistent with 2024. Daily flights will be available to Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and El Salvador. Panama will have up to four weekly flights, while Havana will continue with three.
A key driver behind this expansion is the introduction of the Airbus A321XLR, a next-generation aircraft that will strengthen Iberia’s presence in the United States.
The airline will continue operating direct routes to major American cities, including:
This expansion reflects growing interest from U.S. travelers in Madrid as a hub for connecting to Europe and Latin America.
Iberia will maintain three weekly flights to Tokyo, a route introduced in October 2024 that has quickly gained popularity. The airline will also continue its Madrid-Doha service with one daily flight of its own, alongside two additional flights through a codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways, ensuring strong connectivity with the Persian Gulf region.
On regional routes, Iberia will maintain 16 million seats on its short- and medium-haul network, mirroring last year’s capacity. Notable increases include additional flights to Rome and Paris, with up to seven daily flights to the Italian capital and 11 to Paris on peak days.
Seasonal services to destinations such as Ljubljana, Tirana, Ponta Delgada, and the Greek islands will resume, enhancing the airline’s Mediterranean and Balkan network.
This expansion comes amid strong demand for transatlantic routes, with the U.S. and Puerto Rico performing particularly well. Meanwhile, Cuban routes continue to experience cyclical fluctuations, according to Beatriz Guillén, Iberia’s Global Sales Director.
