BRIDGES 2024, organized by RARE India, is set to take place from April 4th to 6th at The Roseate, New Delhi. Celebrating 20 years of operation, RARE India has established itself as the largest community of boutique, owner-run hotels and experiences, with a dedicated mission to promote community-inclusive and planet-sensitive travel across the Indian subcontinent.

This year’s event, held in the heart of India, aims to be a converging point for change makers in the travel industry, highlighting tourism as a ‘force for good.’

RARE India’s Founder, Shoba Rudra, envisions BRIDGES as a unique experiential event that inspires global collaborators to embrace Responsible Tourism, tailored to the subcontinent’s context. This initiative seeks to alter the traditional tourism narrative by emphasizing sustainable practices, building engaging destination stories, and advocating for a tourism model that benefits both the community and the environment.

BRIDGES 2024 will feature approximately 45 owner-run hotels from the RARE community and 6 hotels as Friends of RARE, each ready to share their inspiring stories. These narratives will focus on the destination’s people, heritage, and culture, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of the impact of responsible tourism.

The event is also an educational platform, offering Catalyst Talks, workshops, and conversation circles led by esteemed RARE partners like Belinda Wright, Gopinath Parayil, and Antara Phookan. These sessions aim to foster discussions around sustainable tourism practices and can be accessed by a global audience online, broadening the event’s reach and impact.

A highlight of BRIDGES is the RARE Conscious Travel Awards, scheduled for April 5th. This ceremony honors the efforts of small, boutique, and owner-run hotels that have significantly contributed to promoting destinations while remaining sensitive to community needs and environmental sustainability.

In a pioneering move towards environmental stewardship, BRIDGES 2024 aspires to be a Carbon Neutral Event, a first in India’s travel event space. This ambition is supported by a partnership with NettZero Environmental Advisory Technologies, which will oversee the calculation, verification, and offsetting of the event’s carbon footprint. This initiative, covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and partial Scope 3 emissions, underscores RARE India’s commitment to setting a benchmark for sustainability in the travel industry, moving beyond discussions to concrete actions towards responsible tourism.
