Brisbane Airport’s Third Terminal And $5 Billion Overhaul Set To Transform Travel Experience And Propel Regional Growth Toward 2032

Brisbane Airport is undergoing a massive $5 billion Future BNE overhaul, which includes plans for a third terminal alongside major upgrades to its existing domestic and international terminals. This ambitious project is set to redefine travel, generate jobs, and position the region for growth leading up to 2032 and beyond.
As part of this transformation, Brisbane Airport has partnered with Amadeus to elevate the passenger experience across both its domestic and international terminals.
The airport will implement Amadeus’ Airport Cloud Use Service, transitioning passenger processing technology to the cloud. This upgrade will power over 300 agent-assisted check-in desks, enabling seamless connections and shared-use functionality for airline partners. Additionally, the airport will adopt approximately 100 new self-service bag drop stations and over 260 self-service check-in kiosks from Amadeus, moving away from outdated systems.
This advanced technology will allow Brisbane Airport to minimize waiting times, offering passengers a choice between smooth self-service options or agent-led assistance, all backed by reliable systems that enhance the check-in and bag-drop process.
Gert-Jan de Graaf, Brisbane Airport CEO said: “The first new-generation check-in row is already up and running, and the feedback from travellers and airline staff has been fantastic. It’s a giant leap from the 1990s to now.”
