The Brisbane Broncos have arrived in the United States, setting the stage for an unprecedented rugby league season opener in Las Vegas.

This marks a historic occasion as the NRL Telstra Premiership season will commence on American soil for the first time, featuring matches between the Sea Eagles, Rabbitohs, Roosters, and Broncos at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

A contingent of 22 players and 18 support staff embarked on their journey from Brisbane Airport on Thursday, taking United Airlines flight UA97 to San Francisco before making an overnight transfer to Los Angeles, where they will set up their training camp for the next week.

This departure from Brisbane Airport signifies a monumental moment for the club, signifying their entry into international competition as the NRL aims to introduce the sport to American fans.

“Brisbane Airport is privileged to be the departure and return point for the Brisbane Broncos as they head to the NRL season kickoff in Las Vegas.”We, alongside the Broncos, are dedicated to promoting the best of Australia to the American audience, enhancing international ties, and embracing the spirit of exploration,” said a statement from the airport.

Peter Doherty, Brisbane Airport Media & Corporate Affairs Manager, shared that an estimated 18,000 fans are expected to travel from Australia for the game, with Queensland residents accounting for three-quarters of those attendees.

In a special moment before taking off, Brisbane Broncos Captain Adam Reynolds and Dreamliner Captain Craig Brownrigg came together for a photograph.

United Airlines offers daily flights from Brisbane to San Francisco, facilitating travel between the two destinations.
