Today marked a significant milestone for Brussels Airlines as its inaugural Airbus A320neo, registration OO-SBA, embarked on its maiden commercial journey, Flight SN2905 from Brussels to Vienna. To commemorate this historic occasion in the airline’s history, all passengers aboard the aircraft were presented with a special souvenir. This event signifies the beginning of a fleet renewal initiative, with four additional Airbus A320neo aircraft set to join the Brussels Airlines fleet in the coming year.

Delivered to Brussels Airlines on November 1, OO-SBA underwent final adjustments and finishes by the Maintenance and Engineering team before making its debut in commercial service today. This moment is particularly noteworthy as it marks not only the introduction of the first A320neo but also the initial delivery of a brand-new aircraft in the airline’s history. Brussels Airlines has ambitious plans for fleet modernization, with four more A320neo aircraft scheduled to be integrated into the fleet in the coming months.

The Airbus A320neo holds a pivotal role in Brussels Airlines’ sustainability strategy, boasting a reduction of up to 20% in CO2 emissions and up to 50% in noise levels. The quieter aircraft, combined with features such as a flexible lighting system and 40% larger overhead bins for luggage, contributes to an enhanced passenger experience.

On December 12, 2023, OO-SBA undertook its first commercial flight, departing at 15:45 local time bound for Vienna. Passengers were treated to a special gift in celebration of the momentous day—a birth card and “suikerbonen/dragées,” traditional Belgian chocolates distributed to commemorate a birth.
