Brussels Airport opens 135 direct destinations, 2 new airlines and more routes

During the winter season of this year, Brussels Airport will provide access to 135 destinations through 54 different airlines.

The Belgian Airport this season will also add several new routes and two additional airlines. The airport’s press release in Schengen Visa portal states this.

Besides the typical winter sports destinations, there are also several additional routes including Egypt.

Moreover, they welcome two new airlines.

Brussels Airport has also announced its plans for the airlines and their designated destinations.

This indicates that Brussels Airlines plan to increase their flight frequency to West Africa during winter season.

Moreover, the intercontinental network will be further enhanced with increased frequencies.

Qatar Airways will expand its frequency to Doha from seven times to ten times a week and Etihad Airways will increase the number of flights to Abu Dhabi from five times to seven times a week.

TUI fly has already expanded its North Africa destinations and flight offerings this summer and is set to include Algiers and Tunis in their winter schedule.

As a result, the same will offer a total of ten destinations in Morocco, five in Algeria and three in Tunisia.

Additionally, it will also have winter flights to the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Mexico.

Starting in December, winter sports enthusiasts will have a wide range of options, including flights to Innsbruck and Salzburg in Austria, as well as Kittila and Kuusamo in Finland.

Furthermore, Banjul in Gambia seems to be a favoured winter getaway, along with the sunny Canary Islands, offering options like Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

The same source revealed that, during the upcoming winter season, Transavia, Swiss, SAS, Vueling, SunExpress and Brussels Airlines are among the airlines planning significant increases in the number of flights.

Brussels Airport also announced an increase in winter travel options, particularly in Egypt.

This includes Cairo, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm-El-Sheikh, Luxor, and the Cape Verde Islands, perfect for those searching for winter sunshine.

In September of this year, the airport reported a total of 2,144,754 passengers. This marks a seven per cent increase compared to the same month last year.

During this time, the airport served 2,002,540 passengers.

Throughout the first nine months of this year, Brussels Airport recorded 16,974,396 passengers.

This marks a substantial 20.1 per cent increase in comparison with the same period last year. It recorded 14,133,826 passengers.
