Bush Convention Center is closed indefinitely

The Bush Convention Center had a main water line break Monday that will close the facility until further notice.

According to a press release from the Midland Chamber of Commerce, their priority was to make sure that all staff was out of the facility and safe, and to shut off all water and power. No one other than staff was in the building during the incident.

The closure of Bush Convention Center came one day before a city of Midland career fair was scheduled to take place. The city Monday afternoon sent out a different release that said, “The city of Midland career fair has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. It will no longer take place (Tuesday), the new date and time is yet to be determined.

On the home page of the Bush Convention Center, there is a headline that says, “We are closed.”

Underneath the headline it says, “The Convention Center is closed due to a water line break. The next scheduled event on the facility’s calendar is Oil Patch Kids’ Casino Night on March 25.
