With the hospitality industry in Latin America experiencing rapid expansion, BWH Hotels is committed to enhancing its current offerings in the region through a series of upcoming development projects. As a prominent global hospitality entity, BWH Hotels comprises three hotel families: WorldHotels™, Best Western® Hotels & Resorts, and SureStay® Hotels. Boasting properties worldwide, the company offers 19 brands spanning all segments of the hospitality spectrum, from budget to luxury, thus exerting a significant influence on Latin America’s hospitality sector.

Projections for the industry indicate a burgeoning demand for hotels in the region in the coming years. Mexico anticipates the addition of 29,000 new hotel rooms within the next four years. Likewise, Brazil leads Central and South America in the development pipeline, with over 17,000 rooms expected by 2027, surpassing the next closest country, Peru, by 14,000 rooms.

Expansion Within Best Western Hotels & Resorts
BWH Hotels is actively driving development across its brands in the region. With offerings ranging from traditional hotel brands to extended stay and boutique upscale options, the company presently operates 76 active properties in Latin America, with an additional 30 slated for development over the next two years. Recently, the global hospitality giant introduced the first Aiden® brand in the region with Aiden by Best Western Black Hotel Boutique in Mexico City, offering 70 comfortable guest rooms and suites, alongside amenities such as an on-site restaurant, fitness center, and a rooftop boasting breathtaking city views. In Chile, another addition to the Best Western portfolio, Best Western Patagonia, is nestled near the Chilean Patagonia, offering a cozy retreat close to Torres del Paine amidst stunning natural surroundings. Most recently, Best Western Salvador Hangar Aeroporto commenced operations on December 1, featuring 275 apartment-style rooms. Situated within the new Hangar Business Park complex, the hotel is part of a multifaceted project including a business center and multiple hotels, reflecting the area’s growth trajectory.

Looking ahead, BWH Hotels is poised to unveil several upcoming projects, particularly within its upscale boutique brand, Aiden by Best Western. Aiden hotels are renowned for their distinctive, neighborhood-centric designs and offerings, creating an atmosphere where guests can feel relaxed, cultured, and well-informed. These unique establishments are situated in premier cities worldwide and will soon make their debut in Latin America, starting in 2024. In addition to the property in Mexico City, the brand will launch three more hotels across the region. These include a 55-room Aiden Quito in Ecuador’s bustling commercial district, a chic 138-room Aiden Georgetown in Guyana, scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2024, and a 40-room Aiden in El Salvador, slated for the fourth quarter of 2024.

In addition to its core and signature brands, BWH Hotels has inked deals for three more hotels in Guyana. Given the country’s recent focus on its burgeoning oil sector, these new properties are anticipated to welcome guests by 2026.

Expanding the WorldHotels Portfolio
WorldHotels curates a selection of some of the most exceptional independent hotels and resorts worldwide. With its four distinct brands—Luxury, Elite, Crafted, and Distinctive—WorldHotels offers travelers specific and authentic experiences tailored to their preferences. Boasting 160 upscale and luxury properties, the company has strategically expanded its presence in Latin America. Hotel Madero, a WorldHotels Elite property nestled in Buenos Aires, Argentina, boasts 197 rooms and 25 suites, along with a spa, dining options, and versatile meeting and event spaces. While currently established in Argentina, Brazil, and Peru, WorldHotels will soon unveil its inaugural property in Mexico. Situated in the sought-after locale of Zapopan, Andares in Guadalajara, this forthcoming hotel, currently under construction, will feature 104 rooms and promises to disrupt the hospitality market upon its opening in 2025.

“BWH Hotels has always been passionate about growth and development in the Latin America region, which is an area that we believe is yet to be maximized in our portfolio,” said Ron Pohl, President of International Operations at BWH Hotels and President of WorldHotels. “Many factors go into these decisions, including identifying which countries and cities in which we are seeing the most demand, what brand makes the most sense for a specific market, whether a conversion or new construction is better suited for the owners and brands success. We are excited to see how the region continues to develop and are eager for BWH Hotels to be a driving force in Latin America.”

BWH Hotels runs its primary operations from its main office in Mexico City, focusing on development strategy for the Latin America region. BWH Hotels takes pride in providing top-notch global sales, marketing, and revenue management support to the Latin American market, aiming to enhance profitability through valuable partnerships, acclaimed marketing and loyalty programs, and strategic agreements with prominent travel clients worldwide. Every hotel under BWH Hotels’ umbrella has a dedicated revenue manager tasked with aligning corporate strategies with each hotel’s specific objectives.
