Once completed, it will act as Parks Canada’s chief operations base and for Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area, it will work as visitor reception area.
For the contract, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment who is accountable for Parks Canada, along with the Honourable Minister of Indigenous Services, Patty Hajdu, who is also responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario, yesterday declared more than $37 million in terms of federal funding to set up the Administration and Visitor Centre. It would be a place for connection and visitor discovery. It would be also act as Parks Canada’s first Passive House Plus, net-zero carbon build, for Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area in Nipigon, Ontario.
This important project will safeguard the ecologically sustainable usage as well as country’s cultural heritage in this national marine conservation area for the future generations to come. Also, the centre will greet Canadians and visitors worldwide. It will facilitate meaningful visitor experiences by sharing the local’s rich history along with area’s coastal communities.
