Canada has revised its travel advisories for the US and China due to escalating tensions. Canadians residing in the US for more than 30 days are now required to register, with penalties for non-compliance, in accordance with new US regulations. In addition, Canada has updated its advisory for China following Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joy’s statement earlier this week regarding the execution of four Canadians by Chinese authorities in recent months.

Canada has issued updated travel advisories for both the United States and China amid the ongoing tariff dispute with the US and the recent execution of four Canadians by Chinese authorities. The new advisory notes that Canadians staying in the US for over 30 days must now ensure they are registered, as the Donald Trump administration has made this registration a requirement. Previously, Canadians did not need a visa or registration to visit the United States.

Travelers are advised to visit the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website to determine whether registration is required and learn the registration process. They can also check their I-94 admission form on the US Customs and Border Protection website to verify if they have been automatically registered upon entering the US. Meanwhile, Canada has also updated its travel advisory for China.

In addition to the United States, Canada has also revised its travel advisory for China following a statement by Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joy, who revealed that China had executed four Canadians in recent months. The updated advisory urges Canadians to exercise “a high degree of caution” while in China, particularly those with dual citizenship. It warns that individuals entering China on a Chinese passport may face restrictions on accessing Canadian consular services.
