Canberra to host ‘FLIGHT’: A spectacular drone Sky Show and night market extravaganza

In a groundbreaking initiative, the National Capital Authority (NCA) is set to transform the skies above Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra, with ‘FLIGHT: Drone SkyShow and Night Markets.’ This free community event, taking place from January 25th to 27th, promises an unprecedented spectacle featuring 600 drones, night markets, diverse culinary offerings, and live entertainment.

Drone SkyShow: A Trilogy of Illumination

Canberra will witness the awe-inspiring ‘FLIGHT’ Drone SkyShow, a first-of-its-kind in Australia, bringing together 600 drones to paint the night sky with a trilogy of captivating stories. Crafted by AGB Creative, renowned for their work on Vivid Light Sydney and Expo 2020 Al Wasl Plaza Dubai, the 12-minute shows will unfold on three consecutive evenings at Commonwealth Place. The drone choreography, synchronized with a bespoke soundtrack, aims to create a mesmerizing, multi-sensory experience. For those preferring a more intimate setting, the Drone SkyShow can be enjoyed from various points, including the central basin shoreline of Lake Burley Griffin and Mount Ainslie.

Night Markets: A Feast for the Senses

Accompanying the dazzling drone displays, ‘FLIGHT’ will host vibrant Night Markets, creating a bustling midsummer night atmosphere. Attendees can explore a myriad of offerings, from multicultural cuisines and gourmet food stalls to unique clothing, locally crafted art, jewelry, and homewares. Dessert enthusiasts will find a haven with decadent treats and, of course, ice cream. The event hub at Commonwealth Place will buzz with life, featuring additional restaurants and bars for a complete cultural and culinary experience.
