Cangzhou City, located in north China’s Hebei Province, has recently initiated a vibrant array of over 400 cultural activities encompassing local operas, traditional customs, and artistic showcases, aiming to entice global tourists throughout the lunar new year period from February to March 2024, as per the municipal government’s announcement.

Notably, the inaugural Cangzhou New Year Lantern Festival along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, alongside various art festivals, has transformed Cangzhou into a captivating destination during this paramount traditional Chinese celebration.

During the Spring Festival Intangible Cultural Heritage Temple Fair hosted at Wuqiao Acrobatics World, an array of diverse programs unfolded, featuring attractions like the “Drum Rhythm Welcomes the New Year,” the whimsical “Cartoon Stilt Parade,” and the enthralling “Jianghu Show New Year Edition.”Show New Year Edition,” and “Traditional Magic Performance by Various Stars” captivated visitors, encouraging them to pause and enjoy the festivities. Additionally, innovative experiences like immersive scenario tours, poetry-themed performances, and garden flash mobs offered a rich tapestry of Chinoiserie for attendees to immerse themselves in.

“Cangzhou is now gradually transforming into a tourist destination. In the future, we will take multiple measures to increase the promotion of Cangzhou and attract more friends to visit Cangzhou, injecting new vitality and momentum into the Grand Canal culture,” said a local tourist agency head.

In Cangzhou, the essential destinations for the Spring Festival extend beyond scenic attractions. Leading the countryside scene is the distinctive “village Spring Festival gala,” brimming with local charm. Meanwhile, museums and libraries host Loong Year cultural exhibitions and Intangible Cultural Heritage performances, infusing the historical city with a rich “cultural flavor.” Additionally, at prominent ski resorts, visitors revel in the delight of ice and snow while immersing themselves in the authentic New Year customs and culture of Cangzhou.

“I came back from Shanghai to celebrate Spring Festival. I didn’t expect Cangzhou to change so much; the Spring Festival events are lovely and especially suitable for the whole family, ” tourist Tian Jinhui said.
