A new regulation has been passed by Cardiff Airport, the only airport in Wales that is frequently used for scheduled international flights. This rule can be joyful news for passengers.

Earlier, like certain rules and limitations, there was one on liquids, gels, and aerosols as well. However, as times have changed, Cardiff Airport has lifted its limit on the volume of liquids. This means that passengers will be allowed to carry any new volume of liquid that is humanly possible through the checkpoint. It has been increased from 100 ml to two litres.

Though the UK government had passed a circular back in the year 2019 to install new scanners, the Welsh government had said otherwise that all UK airports were not well equipped to invest in scanners.

Certain airports, like Heathrow, Gatwick, and Manchester, have stated that they will miss the original deadline.

However, there are smaller airports like London City, Teeside, and Birmingham that have installed new screening technology and will effectuate accordingly to the prescribed time.

The Welsh government’s deputy climate change minister, Lee Waters, said that due to inflation, the cost has plummeted exorbitantly.

This is partially because of inflation, but it is also because of the intricacy of installing the equipment in a building from the 1970s; a process that has required the safe removal of asbestos in a live operational environment.
