SAS has claimed the title of Europe’s most punctual airline for August 2026, recording an 87% on-time arrival performance in Cirium’s latest monthly On-Time Performance report. The Scandinavian carrier achieved the leading position by a notable margin, marking its 11th top ranking across European and global Cirium punctuality rankings within the past two years as the airline celebrates its 80th anniversary.

The August result further highlights SAS’s consistent operational reliability, adding to a strong record of performance achievements. Across 2025 and 2026, the airline has secured seven European number-one rankings and four global top positions in Cirium’s punctuality assessments, reinforcing its reputation for dependable flight operations.

“Being named Europe’s most punctual airline once again is important because punctuality is one of the clearest ways we deliver value to our customers. Whether they are travelling for business, connecting to another flight, or heading home to their families, our customers rely on us to get them there on time. This result reflects the dedication of colleagues across SAS and our continued focus on making travel as smooth, reliable, and predictable as possible,” says Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS.

A successful summer season driven by operational excellence

August remains one of the most challenging periods for European aviation, with increased passenger demand, busy airport environments, congested air routes, and complex operational conditions placing additional pressure on airlines. Despite these seasonal challenges, SAS maintained a strong level of operational stability and delivered a reliable performance across its extensive network.

The airline’s leading position in August reflects its ongoing efforts to improve punctuality, strengthen operational efficiency, and enhance the overall passenger journey. By focusing on streamlined turnaround operations, detailed daily coordination, and stronger collaboration between teams, SAS continues to provide travellers with a more dependable and seamless travel experience.

As SAS celebrates its 80th anniversary of connecting Scandinavia with destinations around the world, the airline continues to prioritise reliability, service quality, and operational consistency as key elements of its customer offering.
