China Eastern Airlines prepares for Spring Festival rush, planning 3,280 daily flights, aiming to serve 80M passengers in a record-setting 40-day period.
China Eastern Airlines is actively preparing for the anticipated surge in travel during the Spring Festival period, which is scheduled from January 26th through March 5th. To accommodate the expected increase in passengers, the airline has announced plans to operate an average of 3,280 flights daily throughout this timeframe. This represents a substantial 42 percent increase in flight operations compared to the same period last year.
The upcoming travel season is poised to set new records in air travel, with forecasts predicting around 80 million passengers will take to the skies over the 40-day period. This equates to an average of 2 million travelers each day. These figures not only signify a considerable uptick in air travel volume but also exhibit a notable 9.8 percent rise in passenger numbers when compared to the similar festival period in 2019. This growth in travel demand is based on projections from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, highlighting the airline’s strategic response to accommodate the burgeoning number of air travelers.
