After a stringent lockdown that damaged its tourism between the years 2020 and 2022, China is keeping no stones unturned to revitalize the tourism market by making it seamless for international travelers to come to the country.

This week, under a fresh set of requirements for visa application was declared wherein applicants now can only report one year of their travel history rather than five years, as mentioned previously.

On Wednesday, Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the foreign ministry of China said that the improvement comprises seven key items and 15 sub-items, regarding the educational background of the applicants, family information and erstwhile travel history.

Besides, visa applicants, until now, had to put forward their entire history related to education. The recent guidelines need only the highest degree that they have achieved.

These changes are hoped to lessen the time it takes to fill the details and process visa applications.

Mao also said that the foreign ministry will carry on facilitating people-to-people exchange between China and other countries and act as a first-class advancement and high-level opening up.

In 2019, over 65 million international visitors went to China, yielding the country almost $900 billion in terms of revenue, as per the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, China.
