China continues to lead the way in rural tourism, with seven more of its villages being honored as among the Best Tourism Villages of 2024 by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This new recognition brings the total number of Chinese villages on the prestigious list to 15, the highest of any nation.
The latest villages to earn recognition include Azheke in Yunnan, Guanyang in Fujian, Shibadong in Hunan,Shibadong in Sichuan, Xiaogang in Anhui, Xitou in Zhejiang, and Yandunjiao in Shandong.These villages were selected for their ability to meet UNWTO’s rigorous criteria, including safety, health, and security standards, as well as their commitment to preserving cultural heritage.
