Chinese tourists will get 5-month visa free entry to Thailand

Thailand is all geared up to start a measure allowing temporary visa-free entry to all tourists coming from China as the country is currently targeting for complete repossession of its tourism after the pandemic clump. Srettha Thavisin, the prime minister, Thailand, said that the exemption in visa will be provided to visitors from Kazakhstan as well and from September 25 th , this rule will be effective and will continue until February 29 th 2024. Pertinent authorities had been referred to make sure that they are all set to manage the expected rise in travelers, he said.

In 2019, to Thailand, China became a key source of tourists with almost 11 million visitors. Around 27.6% of all arrivals the year before pandemic hit the world.

Amidst concern that the Chinese tourists’ numbers to the country might not reach the early target of 5 million, this step has been introduced as per the government rule. The authority of Thailand tourism reported that in the first six months of this 2023, around 1.4 million Chinese tourists visited the country.

The economy of Thailand dropped during COVID when the country welcomed around 40 million visitors from abroad in 2019 which generated 1.9 trillion baht in revenue.
