Chinese travelers arriving in Bangkok received a celebrity greeting with Thai Prime Minister Srettha
Thavisin personally welcoming the first lot of tourists to Thailand after it waived visas for Chinese residents to lift the important tourism sector.

Dancers in traditional gears and puppeteers performed for the bewildered tourists, who dropped in by a flight from Shanghai. Many tourists also took selfies with the Thai PM.

Tourism is an important driver of Thailand, familiar for its striking beaches and effervescent amusement, and revitalizing a sector that was affected badly by the pandemic is one of the urgencies of recently designated Srettha, who inherited a failing economy.

China’s after the pandemic financial distresses, nevertheless, have meant lesser tourists from what
was one time Thailand’s largest market are flying in, a condition that Srettha anticipates that the visa waiver can aid in fixing.

The PM is assured that this strategy will encourage the economy. He added that security of tourists will be
given importance.

The visa waiver plan runs from Sept. 25 till February The administration supposes 2.88 million
Chinese tourists in the course of that 5-month term, a little higher than the 2.34 million Chinese who have
arrived this year.
