CIFTIS forum finds out ways to enhance tourism revival

On Saturday, as part of the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services, officials of the government and tourism stakeholders met face-to-face at this forum to look into the crucial strategies targeted at rejuvenating the tourism which has gone through the effect of the pandemic.


The World Conference on Tourism Cooperation and Development 2023, revolved around the latest trends, business format, new consumption, together creating the prosperity of tourism and culture, attracted almost 400 participants from 30 regions and nations. This varied group had senior officials of tourism, mayors, representatives of international organizations, and heads of different tourism companies.


The travel service business of China in the first half of 2023, have increased by a notable 65.4% on an annual basis to 650.94 billion yuan, placing it amongst the fastest-growing segments of the country in the domain of service trade.


Also, Chinese tourists have been contributing in revitalizing foreign tourism, thus catalyzing world trade and the financial rebound.


Beijing Mayor Yin Yong, who heads the World Tourism Cities Federation Council as well, unveiled that Beijing welcomed 150 million tourists in the first six months of 2023, generating tourism revenue of over 270 billion yuan. These numbers reflect an estimated 100% annual growth, mirroring the figures of pre-pandemic times.
