The Colorado Tourism Office, under the umbrella of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, is excited to launch a pioneering project in collaboration with Tourism Exchange USA, supported by Brand USA. This innovative platform is set to transform the way local tourism enterprises engage with international travelers, paving the path for unprecedented development and success within Colorado’s dynamic tourism sector. Through this collaboration, various tourism services including lodging, tours, and activities will gain a significant boost by making their offerings more accessible globally via online booking, thus enhancing their visibility and contributing to the economic growth of the area.

“By partnering with Tourism Exchange USA, we are equipping local and small businesses with the digital tools and resources they need to compete on a global scale and showcase the best of what Colorado has to offer,” said Director of the Colorado Tourism Office, Timothy Wolfe. We are dedicated to implementing technology to help guide these business owners onto the international platform.”

The 2023 Global Travel Trends Report by American Express reveals a growing trend among travelers, particularly those from Generation Z and Millennials, who are keen on exploring off-the-beaten-path destinations and immersing themselves in genuine local experiences. A notable 86% of younger generations and 83% of all participants indicated a preference for patronizing small businesses during their travels, underscoring the importance of supporting local economies. Nevertheless, smaller-scale enterprises often struggle with making their services available for online booking on a global scale or integrating into worldwide distribution networks.

To address these challenges, the Tourism Exchange steps in as a crucial intermediary, enabling the effortless exchange of live information and services with global distributors. This initiative is a significant stride towards eliminating existing hurdles and adopting a digital-forward approach to amplify sales opportunities. It offers travel-oriented businesses the chance to list their services on renowned booking platforms such as Expedia, TripAdvisor, and Google, as well as other specialized international outlets, without requiring any initial investment.

Tourism Exchange USA’s Senior Vice President, Nate Huff, shared in the excitement, stating, “We believe that every travel business adds to the unique story of a destination. Our partnership with the Colorado Tourism Office is about amplifying these stories through empowering small businesses to thrive in the digital world of travel trade product development and distribution. By providing them with a platform to reach global travel distributors, we’re helping level the playing field for smaller businesses. By collaborating with The Exchange, Colorado showcases its dedication to innovation, community empowerment, and the continued economic growth of its destination.”
