Coming Friday is the last chance to take part in Durban Tourism Awards

On this Friday i.e. February 25th, entries for the inaugural Durban Tourism Awards will close. The City is requesting all local tourism product owners to enter the awards before 4.30 pm on Friday.

To quote the statement published by the eThekwini Municipality, spokesman Msawakhe Mayisela, “To date, there are approximately 120 tourism product owners that have entered the awards. The City calls on more businesses to make use of this opportunity as entrants stand a chance of winning cash and development prizes. Product owners are not limited to entering one category if they qualify for others.”

“The awards categories include service excellence, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, tour operators, upcoming filmmakers, and a special Mayor’s Award,” said Mayisela.

In May, the awards are scheduled to happen. The Municipal spokesperson explained that the awards are set to target and recognise tourism products that inspire visitors’ trust by demonstrating the City’s high standards and commitment to excellence in the tourism industry.

“The awards will also reward products that attract tourists to the City and contribute to job creation and economic growth,” said Mayisela.
