On the eve of Conventa 2024, a groundbreaking initiative will be launched by the Slovenian Convention Bureau in collaboration with the Slovenian Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sports. This initiative, named Conventa Crossroads, aims to bring together emerging leaders within the regional meetings sector for a pivotal forum.
The event is set to host 37 participants, including delegates from 10 of the region’s top destinations. Running parallel to this gathering, a key bilateral discussion is scheduled between Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development, Vladimir Martinović, and Slovenia’s own Minister of Economy, Tourism and Sports, Matjaž Han.
Adding to the distinguished guest list are the mayors of Slovenia’s two largest cities, Zoran Janković of Ljubljana and Saša Arsenović of Maribor. They, along with other tourism municipal representatives, will partake in the Conventa Crossroads. The forum will be moderated by Ivo Franschitz, a respected figure in the industry from the Austrian agency ENITED.
The Slovenian Tourist Board has also thrown its support behind the event, partnering with the organizers to ensure its success. Maja Pak Olaj, MSc, the Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board, has highlighted the critical role of the meetings industry and the fruitful collaboration between the Slovenian Convention Bureau and the Tourist Board.
The forum is poised to culminate with four distinct sessions led by officials from renowned international associations, including Martin Boyle of IAPCO, Christina Strohschneider of ICCA, Eric Bakermans from the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions, and Matthias Schultze of the German Convention Bureau. This convergence of industry experts and decision-makers at Conventa Crossroads signifies a significant moment for the regional meetings industry, emphasizing innovation, leadership, and cooperation.
