Cooperation for building tourism prospect in West Papua region

The coordinating ministry of maritime affairs and investment has requested the West Papua local
administration to implement inter-regional partnership to develop tourism scenario in the region.

The inter-regional collaboration is the key to improve the growth of tourism prospect, said Evy Siburian, the ministry’s manager for tourism and creative economy. For example, the collaboration can be in the form of assembling a travel outline from Raja Ampat in Southwest Papua to Triton Kaimana Bay in West Papua.

Siburian said that the local government needs to make use of the tourism prospect in a good way to entice tourists. Each local government in the province need to cooperate in accumulating an outline or road map for the growth of tourist places. For instance, backing arrangement for tourism will be a new foundation for financial growth.

Siburian said that an appealing tourism idea by the local government could surge investors’ attention in
funding in West Papua.

Besides a concrete idea, a favorable condition is also important for understanding the tourism growth plan. Investors will be arriving to build hotels along with other tourism structure, said Siburian.
