New Destinations and Immersive Experiences
The 2025 season introduces exciting new features for guests aboard Costa Smeralda, including the Sea Destinations. These experiences offer travelers the opportunity to explore the Mediterranean in unique ways. For example, guests will be able to stargaze in the Balearic Sea, guided by a ship’s officer, or enjoy a Capri breakfast while admiring the Faraglioni at dawn. Additionally, a light show at the Cetacean Sanctuary will immerse guests in the world of marine creatures.

The Land Destinations also enhance the cruise experience, allowing travelers to delve deeper into Mediterranean culture with excursions to the Notre-Dame de la Garde Cathedral in Marseille, Park Güell in Barcelona, and the Rione Sanità in Naples. For those seeking an even more immersive experience, a visit to Pompeii’s ruins or the submerged Roman villas at the Baia Underwater Park is available.

Costa Smeralda is not just about stunning destinations; it also offers an unparalleled gastronomic experience. With 21 restaurants, 19 bars, and a range of Italian and international partnerships, Costa Smeralda delivers a wide variety of culinary delights. Guests can savor dishes curated by renowned chefs like Bruno Barbieri, Hélène Darroze, and Ángel León. The ship features restaurants such as Pizzeria Pummid’oro for authentic Italian pizza, the Teppanyaki restaurant for a fusion of haute cuisine and entertainment, and Sushino for a Japanese culinary experience.
Sustainability at Sea
Costa Smeralda is also a model of sustainability in the cruise industry. Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the ship significantly reduces its environmental impact by nearly eliminating sulfur oxides and particulate matter emissions. The LNG system also reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by 85% and CO2 emissions by up to 20%. Onboard, all water needs are met by transforming seawater using desalinators, and a comprehensive waste management system ensures materials like plastic, paper, and glass are recycled.
Costa Smeralda is more than a cruise ship; it is an itinerant “smart city” focused on sustainable solutions and a circular economy. Passengers can experience cutting-edge design with Italian craftsmanship featured throughout the ship, including in the CoDe – Costa Design Museum, the first museum on a cruise ship.
A Seamless Mediterranean Experience Awaits
With its mix of new destinations, immersive experiences, world-class cuisine, and commitment to sustainability, Costa Smeralda offers travelers an unforgettable Mediterranean cruise experience. Whether exploring new shores or enjoying onboard luxury, every aspect of the journey is designed to create lasting memories.
