American Airlines Flight 94, en route to Madrid, Spain from JFK Airport in New York, had to make an unscheduled stop at Boston’s Logan Airport on a Wednesday evening due to a reported maintenance issue, later identified as a cracked windshield. The plane safely touched down at Logan Airport at 10:14 p.m., managing to taxi to its gate without assistance. Following the incident, American Airlines removed the aircraft from service for a thorough check by their maintenance crew.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. However, the passengers were inconvenienced with an unexpected overnight stay in Boston, with plans to continue their journey to Madrid on a substitute aircraft the following Thursday afternoon.

This event adds to a string of recent concerns over the safety of U.S. airlines, highlighted by an incident last month involving an Alaska Airlines flight. Shortly after takeoff from Portland, Oregon, a door panel on the Boeing 737 Max 9 blew off mid-flight. The National Transportation Safety Board’s initial findings pointed to the absence of four critical bolts, intended to secure the door plug, as the culprit.
