IndiGo flight makes emergency landing in Chandigarh following a critical situation with nearly depleted fuel, narrowly averting a major crisis.

On April 13, a routine flight from Ayodhya to Delhi turned precarious, culminating in an unplanned diversion to Chandigarh under dire circumstances. According to reports from passengers, the aircraft managed a challenging landing with minimal fuel reserves. This incident has ignited discussions regarding the adherence to safety protocols by the airline involved.

The flight, operated by IndiGo under the code 6E2702, was initially set to leave Ayodhya at 3:25 PM, reaching Delhi by 4:30 PM. However, unforeseen weather conditions near Delhi thwarted the flight’s scheduled landing. The captain relayed to the passengers approximately 15 minutes before the expected landing time that adverse weather would prevent them from reaching their destination as planned. Following two unsuccessful landing attempts in Delhi, the decision was made to reroute to Chandigarh.

The situation was first brought to public attention through a social media post by Satish Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), who was among the passengers. Kumar described the experience as alarming and sought clarity on whether the flight’s operations complied with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). His post included tags directed at regulatory authorities such as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation, urging a review of the incident.

Further concerns were voiced by Shakti Lumba, a retired pilot, who labeled the incident a “gross safety violation.” Lumba has called for a comprehensive investigation by the DGCA to determine the sequence of events and any potential breaches of safety standards.

This event has stirred a broader conversation about airline safety practices and regulatory oversight, emphasizing the need for stringent adherence to safety norms to protect passengers. The airline has yet to respond formally to the allegations or the calls for an investigation. Meanwhile, aviation experts and safety advocates are closely monitoring the situation, awaiting further details that might emerge from an official inquiry.
