Cruising majesty: Royal Caribbean spectacular icon of the seas makes historic debut in Miami

The commencement of the new year is marked by an extraordinary celebration, as Royal Caribbean International’s highly anticipated Icon of the Seas made its debut in Miami today. This unique amalgamation of the finest elements from various vacation experiences was enthusiastically welcomed by the community through air, land, and sea festivities, setting the stage for its official debut on January 27.

As the countdown begins for the initiation of a new era in vacations, local residents, ardent Royal Caribbean enthusiasts, executives, and employees gathered to witness the arrival of Miami’s newest resident. Icon made a grand entrance at PortMiami, accompanied by celebratory fireboat salutes, banner planes soaring overhead, and a community celebration at Pérez Art Museum, marking the inaugural appearance of many to follow in the Magic City. With less than 20 days until the introduction of the world’s premier family vacation, Icon will undergo final preparations in Miami before a momentous naming celebration and its inaugural cruise.

Icon promises an immersive array of experiences, seamlessly combining the best aspects of various vacation styles, from beach retreats to resort escapes and theme park adventures. Spread across eight distinct neighborhoods, each a destination in itself, Icon offers unprecedented attractions day and night. These include heart-pounding thrills like six record-breaking waterslides at Category 6 and the Crown’s Edge experience at 154 feet above the ocean. Additionally, there are seven pools – one for each day of the week – such as the first suspended infinity pool at sea. Other groundbreaking features include a family-friendly neighborhood for young kids, over 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges, deck-defying entertainment spanning air, ice, water, and theater, and much more.

Commencing on January 27, Icon provides vacationers with the opportunity to escape and explore tropical islands year-round. Each 7-night Eastern or Western Caribbean adventure from Miami includes visits to picturesque Caribbean destinations and a day of thrills and relaxation at Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. Adding to the perfection on Perfect Day in January 2024 is the island’s first adults-only retreat, Hideaway Beach, offering an all-day experience with a private beach, pools, exclusive spots for drinks and bites, cabanas, live music, and more.
