CTO chief honored: Dona Regis-Prosper wins 2023 CMEx leadership award

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is thrilled to announce that its Secretary-General and CEO, Dona Regis-Prosper, has received the 2023 Leadership Award from the Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx).

The recognition took place at an awards luncheon and fundraising event on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Regis-Prosper was honored for her exceptional leadership spanning over two decades in various tourism and hospitality roles. Notably, she made history as the first female leader of the CTO, the pivotal tourism development agency for the Caribbean region.

During the past nine years, Regis-Prosper skillfully managed new organizations and projects across multiple islands and territories, significantly enhancing their standing in the Caribbean tourism landscape.

Her diverse career includes serving as the Director of Marketing and Product Development at the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority, where she played a key role in transforming the organization into a service-oriented entity. She also fostered a customer service culture at the port facilities. Additionally, she held the position of Director of Business Development for Margaritaville Caribbean Group in Jamaica, and she served as the CEO of the Tortola Pier Park in the British Virgin Islands, overseeing the launch of new cruise and shopping center facilities. Regis-Prosper also served as the General Manager of the Antigua Cruise Port, managing the successful launch of the facility.

The 2023 CMEx Leadership Awards and Fundraiser, held at the Loews Coral Gables Hotel in Miami over the weekend, also honored other individuals for their outstanding contributions to the Caribbean tourism, hospitality, and communications sectors. Notable honorees included Ewald Biemans, Rosa Harris, Stan Hartling, Joy Jibrilu, Nicola Madden-Greig, Pat Montague, Beverly Nicolson-Doty, Kevin O’Reggio, Michele Paige, and Julian Rogers MBE.

Reflecting on the event, Regis-Prosper expressed immense pride and humility, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in shaping the future of Caribbean communications, tourism, and hospitality. Her dedication to strategic planning, business development, policy formulation, and innovative strategies align with CMEx’s values of progress and sustainability in enhancing the global competitiveness of Caribbean tourism.

Established to facilitate the exchange of best practices among communicators in the media and members of the public and private sectors, CMEx collaborates with non-governmental organizations, academia, community groups, and the youth.
