Cultural heritage and monuments to be developed in Haryana for tourism promotion

“Historical monuments and cultural heritage of Haryana should be developed elegantly with the help of the Centre’s schemes and programmes so that more and more tourists are attracted to the state,” said Governor BandaruDattatraya.


Dattatrayadiscussed ways and means to promote tourism in Haryana during a meeting with the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy. The Governor stressed the need to focus more on promoting the events of Mahabharata and teachings of the Gita to establish the identity of ‘Dharmakshetra’ Kurukshetra globally.


Dattatraya also discussed projects related to the Indian culture and the Gita that are forthcoming at Jyotisar near Kurukshetra.


Minister Reddy said that many tourism projects had been carried out in Haryana with the backing of the Center. Shri Krishna Circuit is being developed for which an amount of Rs. 97.34 crorehas been released by the Center, of which Rs. 77.87 crorehas been spent already.


The Ministry of Tourism has approved Rs. 49.51 crore for developing Nada Sahib Gurdwara in Panchkula and Shri Mata Mansa Devi Temple under the pilgrimage restoration and spiritual heritage conservation campaign. Work is going on in both these places.
