The DataLab network ismanaged by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the European Travel Commission (ETC). It will provide a unique stage for sharing best practices, inclusive of knowledge in data management and analytics. Users of this platform will be able to share their knowledge regarding the identification of appropriate data sources, the use of big data, including theapplication of market intelligence systems.
National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) of Europe, National Tourism Administrations (NTAs) along with otherpertinent partners are all entitled to be a part of the DataLab. Representatives from over 30 countries have signed up to become a part of the first phase.
ZoritsaUrosevic, the UNWTO Executive Directorsaid that the UNWTO-ETC DataLabsystem represents agroundbreaking and collaborative approach to propagate the effectiveness of countries with the help of market intelligence. The system will help tourism organizations to become more equippedto serve amore and more digitalized and data-driven segment.
Eduardo Santander, the Executive Director at ETCsaid that by nurturing knowledge sharing with the help of the UNWTO-ETC DataLabinitiative,it would be easier to provide a stage for destinations for collaborating and building collective knowledge, which is important, especially during these times of challenges. Santandersaid that they hope that this inventiveness will help their members lessen risks and increase effectivenessfor creating a tourism sector that is even more strong, advanced and sustainable in the future.
