In the middle of a summer tourist season that’s hoped to experience shortage of record numbers a year back, this week, the Halifax Area Advertising Authority board of directors collectively permitted a proposed $15.7 million budget that comprises money to grow and develop ‘Beach On’ marketing campaign of Daytona Beach.

For the fiscal year that starts on Oct. 1 st , the $15,670,200 budget represents a meek 1.9% rise over the $15,384,270 for the running fiscal year. It’s on the basis of expected tourism bed-tax collections of $13,077,109 by the finance division of the county.

For the current fiscal year, that estimate is 6.2% lesser than the estimate of $13,939,270. It shows the easing of the record-setting boom in tourism in Volusia County in the past two years as the country came up from the lockdowns and restrictions due to pandemic on global travel said the executive director of the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Lori Campbell Baker.

Also, the projected revenue from the budget of the current year comprises a carry-over of $2,544,091. This is debatably the main vote, Baker told members of the tourism board that looks after and finances the Daytona Beach Area CVB at Wednesday’s meeting.
