Deccan Odyssey, the uber-luxury train would be re-launched by the Indian Railways along with
Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation following a five-year interruption. The train has been
fully renovated and will include brand new facilities, comprising wooden floor covering, glass bottles along with a fire-fighting arrangement. It will be operated by technology MNC Ebix and will charge Rs. 6.5 lakh for each couple for a trip spanning seven nights and eight days. The train will be plying on six directions, comprising new destinations like Delhi and Varanasi.

The Deccan Odyssey finds its place among India’s top five luxury trains.

The MTDC and the Indian Railways, which cooperatively own this super luxury train, would re-
launch it following a break of almost five years.

Maharashtra Chief minister Eknath Shinde flagged off this train at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in
the company of deputy chief ministers Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis.

Deccan Odyssey was custom-built in 2004. Operated by government agencies originally, in 2014, the train
was totally outsourced to Cox and Kings to function its on the train and off the train facilities, sales, marketing and working undertakings for a term of five years. The agency afterwards happened to be ruined. When the pandemic affected, the train was transferred to the sidings of Dadar and Nahur, corroded and in poor condition. However, it has now been fully redecorated and will come in a completely new avatar.
