Delta Air Lines has declared that from November 23, 2024, it will enhance its service frequency to Curaçao International Airport (CUR) from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to daily flights. This expansion mirrors the growing interest in the increasingly popular Dutch Caribbean island among travelers from the U.S. This announcement follows Delta’s resumption of its weekly flights to the island on December 16, 2023, after nearly 14 years, once again making it the sole operator of flights between Atlanta and Curaçao. The newly scheduled daily flights will maintain the timing of the existing Saturday service, with departures from ATL at 9:45 AM and arrivals at CUR at 2:45 PM. The return flights will leave CUR at 4:10 PM and arrive in ATL at 7:30 PM. This enhancement is part of a trend of increasing service and seasonal flights by major carriers like JetBlue Airways, American Airlines, United Airlines, WestJet, and Air Canada, in response to rising demand.

Curaçao’s tourism sector is experiencing a remarkable revival, evidenced by a 27% increase in stayover visits in January 2024 compared to the same month the previous year. This growth is consistent with the island’s record-setting performance in 2023, as reported by the Curaçao Tourist Board, which saw an extraordinary rise in visitors. The island welcomed 582,409 international and 141,175 U.S. tourists, marking increases of 19% and 51% respectively from the previous year. The outlook for 2024 is even more optimistic, with projections to attract over 650,000 international and 198,000 U.S. stayover tourists. This surge is attributed to the ongoing expansion and development of its world-class hospitality infrastructure. Notable developments include the expansion of Mangrove Beach Corendon with The Rif and the upcoming opening of Courtyard by Marriott. Moreover, Zoëtry Curaçao Resort & Spa will introduce 52 beachfront Kabina Suites, alongside a new infinity pool and an Italian specialty restaurant. The Avila Beach Hotel is also undergoing enhancements with a lobby makeover and a renovation of 64 rooms.

“We are thrilled to see the burgeoning confidence and trust from our airline partners as a result of our
continuing efforts to showcase the beautiful island we call home,” says Hugo Clarinda, Curaçao’s
deputy director of tourism. “As travelers find themselves with more ways than ever to get to Curaçao,
we will continue to nurture the cultural authenticity, breathtaking beauty, and unique hotel product
that is an undeniable force behind the island’s allure.”
