Today, Denver International Airport (DEN) announced that it has exceeded its revenue targets for Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (ACDBE) for Fiscal Year 2023. Notably, the ACDBE Rental Car sector outperformed expectations by 7.87 percent, exceeding the goal by 6.17 percent. Similarly, the ACDBE Non-Rental Car sector achieved an impressive 38.96 percent, surpassing the goal by 11.36 percent.
“I’m proud that DEN’s ACDBE program continues to outperform our federal goals,” said DEN CEO Phil Washington. “Creating and ensuring equity in how small businesses compete for contracts is central to how we do business at DEN. We’ve grown our program considerably over the last few years and are continuing to create new opportunities for disadvantaged businesses to launch and grow at DEN.”
In the federal fiscal year 2022, DEN surpassed its federally determined business contracting target, achieving a remarkable 31.95 percent. Additionally, the revenue generated by ACDBE concessions business reached an unprecedented high, exceeding $230 million, marking the highest figure in the past six years.
The ACDBE Program, a federal initiative aimed at fostering equal opportunities for small businesses in airport contracting, plays a crucial role in this achievement. Every three years, DEN sets an overall ACDBE goal, which is endorsed by the FAA. This goal reflects the disparity between the current participation level of minority and women-owned businesses in transportation projects and the level anticipated in the absence of historical discrimination.
