Early this morning, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Ajaz Assad and Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Dr. G N Itoo, together officially started a car rally to Gurez.
A local adventure group has arranged this three day car rally. It comprises about 50 4×4 SUVs. These tonight will pass through Razdan pass and reach Davar. The participants tomorrow would visit Chakvali and Habba Khatoon springs. By July 13th, the rally would be back to Srinagar. The participants would have bonfire sessions and cultural interactions with local youth during the rally.
The rally is part of the efforts by the Department to discover the untouched potential of Gurez valley when it comes to tourism. By now, the Department has planned a Gurez festival to draw even more tourists to the virgin valley and bring this quant place adequately on the tourist map of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Director Tourism wished the participants of the rally well and hoped that the rally would kick-start a new phase in terms of tourist footfall to Gurez valley. Both tourists as well as local stakeholders would be advantageous equally from the endeavor.
