Travellers and tourists looking towards Indonesia can anticipate enhanced travel options as Dhoho Airport in Kediri, East Java, prepares to initiate its first flight operations on April 5. This development marks the low-cost carrier Citilink as the pioneering airline to offer round-trip services between Jakarta and Kediri, indicating a significant leap forward in regional connectivity.

According to Istata T. Siddharta, President Director of PT Surya Dhoho Investama – the subsidiary responsible for Dhoho Airport’s construction under PT Gudang Garam – the inaugural flight will deploy an A320 CEO aircraft, equipped to accommodate 180 passengers on the Jakarta-Kediri-Jakarta route. This event is poised to be a landmark moment, symbolizing the strides in air connectivity and the potential for economic advancement in southern East Java.

With plans to operate twice weekly, these flights are expected to hold considerable significance for the people of Kediri Regency and its vicinity, offering new avenues for travel and business. Dhoho Airport, constructed to international specifications, boasts a runway that is 3,300 meters in length and 45 meters in width, ready to host wide-body jets.

Furthermore, the passenger terminal at Dhoho Airport has been designed with the capacity to accommodate up to 1.5 million passengers annually in its initial phase and aims to serve up to 10 million passengers annually at full capacity. This step towards expanding air travel in East Java not only promises to streamline travel for residents and tourists alike but also supports the broader goal of fostering economic growth through improved accessibility and connectivity in the region.
