The standout factor behind AGTech’s revenue growth was the recovery of Macau’s tourism sector. Macau, a globally recognized gaming and entertainment hub, has seen its tourism sector bounce back sharply, benefiting businesses connected to the tourism industry, including digital payment platforms like MPay.

AGTech reported that its revenue from digital payment services rose by 7.3 percent year-on-year, amounting to HK$148.3 million. This increase reflects the ongoing rise in tourism and the growing trend of cashless transactions in Macau. The rise in tourism was further supported by initiatives such as the “Community Consumption Grand Prize 2025”, a government program designed to encourage local spending by distributing consumption vouchers to residents. The vouchers, which were distributed during two periods of 2025 (March–June and September–November), helped boost weekend spending and encouraged more domestic and inbound tourists to engage in spending activities, especially in the hospitality and retail sectors.
The increased use of MPay also reflects the changing consumer habits, with more tourists and residents embracing digital payments. As the tourism sector continues to expand, the adoption of mobile payments is expected to play a crucial role in streamlining transactions and improving the overall visitor experience.

MPay, AGTech’s flagship mobile payment platform, has become a key player in Macau’s digital payment ecosystem. MPay now boasts a user base of 1.6 million registered users, covering more than 90 percent of merchants in Macau. The platform’s success is linked to its ability to cater to both locals and tourists, offering a seamless, cashless experience that supports a wide range of services, from hotel payments to dining and shopping.
One of MPay’s most significant advantages is its ability to support cross-border payments, particularly for tourists from mainland China, Hong Kong, and other regions. Through partnerships with overseas entities, MPay allows visitors from over 10 countries and regions to use their native e-wallets while in Macau. This feature has become increasingly popular, especially among Chinese tourists, who represent a significant portion of Macau’s visitor arrivals.
The growth in cross-border payments is a clear indicator of MPay’s success in tapping into the tourist market. The platform saw a 42 percent year-on-year increase in the number of users utilizing cross-border payment services, with transactions up by 85 percent and total spending rising by 88 percent. This growth underscores the increasing reliance on mobile payments among tourists, as well as the benefits of providing international travelers with the ability to use their preferred payment methods while abroad.
In addition to its success with MPay, AGTech’s digital banking arm, Ant Bank (Macao), has experienced rapid growth since its acquisition in 2024. The bank, which launched its first self-service facility in October 2025, is focused on offering financial services to both residents and tourists, particularly mainland Chinese visitors to Macau.
The growth in Ant Bank’s customer base has been impressive, with the number of customers increasing by 97 percent year-on-year. Deposits at Ant Bank grew by an extraordinary 290 percent, and loan volumes saw a 101 percent increase. These figures highlight the growing demand for financial services that cater to both the local population and the influx of Chinese tourists, who are increasingly seeking digital banking services while traveling abroad.
Through its full-service digital banking offerings, including e-wallets, contactless smart cards, and acquiring services, Ant Bank is helping facilitate smoother financial transactions for tourists and residents alike. The bank’s inclusive finance approach aims to provide seamless digital payment solutions, contributing to the smart transformation of Macau as a leading global tourism destination.
With tourism in Macau poised for continued growth, digital payments are expected to become even more integral to the region’s tourism infrastructure. MPay’s growing popularity and Ant Bank’s expanding services are key factors in transforming the way visitors interact with the city, from making seamless payments to accessing essential financial services.
The rise of cross-border mobile payments and the success of Ant Bank (Macao) show that Macau’s digital ecosystem is evolving to meet the needs of both tourists and locals. As digital solutions continue to gain traction, the tourism industry stands to benefit from greater efficiency, convenience, and security.
AGTech’s strategic focus on digital payments and financial services positions the company at the forefront of Macau’s tourism and hospitality sectors. As tourism continues to grow, these innovations will be critical in enhancing the visitor experience, improving business operations, and supporting sustainable growth in the tourism sector.
AGTech’s growth in 2025 revenue in relation to mobile payment solutions is thanks to Macau’s recovering tourism sector. Adaptation to multi-country cross-border digital payments fully positioned the company as a leader in Macau tourism ecosystem.
Growing tourism & it’s digital payment systems further positions Macau as a hub for FinTech innovations within tourism. Investments in mobile payments solutions esp. Ant Bank digital banking services means AGTech & subsidiaries are future shapers of FinTech in tourism for Macau.
