Carnival Jubilee has introduced an underwater-themed zone, “Currents,” offering guests a unique, immersive experience with technologically advanced features. This new addition was showcased through a video tour by Carnival ahead of the ship’s official naming ceremony, set to take place on Saturday. Launching from Galveston, Texas, in December, the ship’s “Currents” zone spans two decks, promising an array of attractions.

One of the key highlights of “Currents” is “Seaquest: A Fun Sub Adventure,” designed to simulate the experience of underwater travel via a submersible. The illusion is achieved through the use of six large LED portals and a 100-foot-long LED ceiling, complemented by an array of music, lighting, and sound effects. Glenn Aprile, Carnival’s senior director of brand experience and product development, described Seaquest as a pioneering experience that merges reality with the fantastical, taking guests on an exciting onboard journey.

During this adventure, guests are treated to sights such as the Carnival Seacation resort, a neon glowing grotto, a giant jellyfish school, cosmic whale sharks, and the kingdom of The Golden Mermaid.

Additionally, “Currents” offers guests the chance to explore six different underwater worlds, ranging from vibrant coral reefs to icy arctic waters filled with penguins. This feature alters the zone’s entire ambiance, including visual and auditory elements, drawing inspiration from nature.

Children are given the opportunity to create their own sea creatures and watch them come to life on screens, while a music-activated visualizer translates guest-selected songs into visual representations. The zone also displays the real-time locations of all Carnival ships, alongside other ocean and geography-related facts.

In the evenings, “Currents” transforms into a dynamic backdrop for guests at Dr.Inks, Ph.D, and Emeril’s Bistro 717, with varying themes displayed on the screens throughout the cruise. This innovative space on Carnival Jubilee not only enhances the cruise experience but also stands as a testament to the evolving intersection of technology and entertainment within the tourism industry.

As such, “Currents” is expected to significantly influence both global and local tourism by offering a novel attraction that combines educational elements with entertainment, thereby attracting a wider audience and enriching the overall tourist experience.
