Capturing a captivating blend of unfiltered landscapes, warm hospitality, and a compelling interplay between preserved ancient traditions and modern vibrancy, Japan is an irresistibly sensory experience.

In the heart of Kyoto, Six Senses Kyoto emerges as an oasis, marking the brand’s entrance into Japan with a promise of unparalleled experiences. This includes cutting-edge wellness and spa facilities, an innovative dining concept, and captivating local adventures.

General Manager, Nicolas Black, said, “We are thrilled to announce our debut Six Senses opening in Japan. There couldn’t be a more fitting location than Kyoto in the cultural heart of Japan, where age-old sustainability traditions thrive, and well-being is deeply ingrained in the way of life.

As the historical capital and cultural hub of Japan, Kyoto’s allure lies in its Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, palaces, tea houses, traditional architecture, cherry blossoms, and ancient cedar-covered mountains. Nestled in the historic Higashiyama district, Six Senses Kyoto provides a prime location, allowing guests to blend urban sanctuary with nearby delights such as festivals and cultural events, including proximity to landmarks like Myoho-in Temple, Kyoto National Museum, and Sanjusangen-do Buddhist Temple.

The 81 well-designed guest rooms and suites, ranging from 42 to 238 square meters, offer views of the central courtyard, neighboring Toyokuni Shrine gardens, or the enchanting cityscape of treetops, temples, tea shops, and rooftops. Infused with authentic Japanese traditions and decor, each space is adorned with touches inspired by folklore, The Moon Rabbit, and the 11th-century classic Tale of Genji. The Three-Bedroom Penthouse Suite, secluded on the top floor, provides an oasis of calm, perfect for multi-generational travelers or private events on the adjacent rooftop terrace.

Executed by the visionary BLINK Design Group, renowned for global luxury hotels, the interiors seamlessly blend Japanese traditions with clean lines, an earthy color palette, and meticulous attention to detail, bringing Six Senses brand values to life.

At the core of Six Senses Kyoto is the spirit of discovery, offering enriching experiences like the Earth Lab, an Alchemy Bar, and a locally grown herb garden. The Six Senses Spa integrates smart science, traditional healing, and Japanese Zen culture, providing rejuvenating treatments rooted in Kyoto’s culture. Traditional bathhouses, an indoor pool, Watsu, yoga, meditation, aerial yoga, a state-of-the-art gym, and a Biohack Recovery Lounge contribute to guests’ wellness goals.

Expert guides lead tailored adventures through hidden alleys, ancient temples, and vibrant markets, unveiling the stories that shape Kyoto’s history and offering a taste of quintessential Japanese culture.

The Eat With Six Senses ethos is reflected in carefully designed menus, highlighting locally grown and seasonal ingredients. The all-day dining restaurant and counter-style sushi restaurant offer multi-sensory culinary experiences, complemented by a cocktail lounge and bar with a blend of European and Japanese influences, inviting guests to dine indoors or under the clear skies along a meandering garden pathway.
