Oman’s Arabian Sea Resort in Mirbat offers a perfect year-round escape, blending luxury with heritage-inspired design and wellness-focused amenities. Located along the stunning Dhofar coastline, the resort’s unique offerings—ranging from private villas with seafront views to tailored wellness programs—make it an ideal destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure. This new resort aims to enhance Oman’s appeal beyond the khareef season, attracting visitors who seek an immersive coastal experience steeped in authentic Omani culture.

Oman’s Dhofar Governorate has bolstered its tourism portfolio with the launch of a new boutique resort, the Arabian Sea Resort, situated in the tranquil coastal town of Mirbat. Located just an hour’s drive from Salalah Airport and a short 45-minute journey from the scenic Darbat waterfalls, this new development promises to extend the region’s tourism season beyond the traditional khareef months.

As part of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism’s broader strategy to diversify Dhofar’s tourism offerings, the resort aims to attract visitors year-round. By emphasizing coastal relaxation, authentic Omani cultural experiences, and wellness-focused leisure activities, the Arabian Sea Resort seeks to provide a unique appeal to travelers seeking year-round escapes.

Mirbat, a charming town nestled between the mountains and the Arabian Sea, has a rich history as a key frankincense port. It is renowned for its meticulously restored castle, traditional merchant houses, and baobab groves. The area is also famous for its quiet coves, making it an ideal location for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. As Oman continues to position Salalah as its southern tourism hub, Mirbat is becoming a must-visit destination, attracting more attention as part of the country’s wider strategy.

The Arabian Sea Resort, designed to reflect the region’s heritage, blends modern luxury with local architectural traditions. The resort consists of 60 rooms and suites, all designed with private balconies offering stunning views of either the lush landscaped gardens or the sparkling seafront. Guests can choose from premium accommodations, including sea-view suites and spacious two- and three-bedroom waterfront villas, each with its own private pool—perfect for families or extended stays.

True to the local design style, the resort showcases earthy tones, open-air courtyards, shaded terraces, and natural textures, creating an immersive experience that reflects the essence of the place. The wellness offerings are a key feature, with a dedicated wellness centre offering spa treatment suites, meditation decks, and bespoke wellness programs aimed at rejuvenating both mind and body.

Amenities at the resort include an infinity pool with a dedicated children’s pool, a halal restaurant serving both traditional Dhofari and international dishes, a fitness centre, and a variety of marine activities such as kayaking and snorkelling. There is also a sauna, a hot tub, and a dedicated zone for children’s recreation, ensuring that guests of all ages can enjoy the resort’s offerings. A private, sandy beach offers the perfect backdrop for year-round activities like guided boat trips and cultural workshops, while evening performances further enrich the experience.

During the resort’s grand opening, a representative from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism emphasized that the Arabian Sea Resort is a significant addition to the region’s hospitality offerings. The resort supports Oman’s broader goal of promoting sustainable coastal development and attracting private sector investments to enhance the tourism infrastructure in Dhofar. The project aligns with Oman’s national strategy to attract eco-tourism and wellness travelers, complementing the region’s already successful monsoon season, which saw a record 1.03 million visitors during the 2025 khareef season, marking a 2% increase over the previous year.

The development of the Arabian Sea Resort is part of Oman’s efforts to diversify its tourism offerings in Dhofar, with the Ministry continuing to focus on eco-adventure and wellness segments that extend beyond the traditional monsoon period. Oman’s growing popularity as a “sun-and-beach destination” is evident in its partnership with travel giant Tui, which is set to develop five additional hotels in the region, further solidifying the country’s position as a key player in the leisure travel market.

In addition to these developments, the region is benefitting from improved air connectivity, with new European flight routes from Milan and Zurich to Salalah. The introduction of seasonal Etihad Airways flights from Abu Dhabi to Salalah in summer 2026, alongside long-term plans for the expansion of Salalah Airport City into a major passenger hub, will help to further enhance the region’s appeal as a year-round destination. These developments underscore Oman’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and sustainable tourism ecosystem in Dhofar, making it an attractive destination for visitors at any time of the year.
