DOT to fund for developing and promoting traditional tourism

The Department of Tourism (DOT) will provide funding for enterprises for developing and promoting native peoples’ culture, for improving traditional tourism in the Philippines.


The DOT said that they had inked a memorandum of understanding with the National Commission on
Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) for collaboratively applying the Katutubo-Kapwa scheme. It is a countrywide inventiveness which will direct backing for the native cultural communities and indigenous populates in the tourism expansion, comprising places and IP communities in Luzon, Mindanao and Visayas.


As per the agreement, a technical operational group, with officials from both organizations, will be shaped to screen and watch over the application of the project, which will be managed by the Office of Special
Concerns of the DOT.


Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said that their native communities are the forerunners of Filipino
uniqueness. She said that they pledge to the conviction that in revering the backgrounds of the Philippines and the Filipino individuals, they reinforce the Filipino trademark. The Department of Tourism has required this collaboration with the NCIP since they honestly desire to manifest their stable assurance to venerating their native populates and providing them prospects for financial progression with the help of tourism.
