In addition, the RTA has begun construction on new access routes to the Dubai Islands. These entry and exit points are being developed in the area located between the Infinity Bridge and the Port Rashid redevelopment zone, further enhancing the city’s expanding transport network.

Dubai RTA Enhances Urban Mobility with Major Intersection Projects Supporting Nearly 50,000 Vehicles per Hour

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully opened the final bridge within the expansive Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street intersection development, a transformative initiative designed to significantly improve urban mobility. This project comprises five strategically constructed bridges, extending a total of 3.1 kilometers and collectively accommodating up to nineteen thousand four hundred vehicles per hour across all lanes.

Stretching 4.8 kilometers from the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Al Mina Street, the initiative also involved upgrading surface-level junctions along major routes including Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street. To enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility, two pedestrian bridges were added—one each on Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street.

With these enhancements, traffic now moves seamlessly from Al Mina Street to Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Wasl Road, including the busy zone near the Al Hudaiba Awards Buildings. The upgrades also ensure uninterrupted flow from Jumeirah Street to the Infinity Bridge, drastically reducing congestion and streamlining key commuting routes across Bur Dubai.

In a parallel effort to modernize the broader Al Shindagha Corridor, the RTA has executed several critical intersection upgrades in recent years. Among these was the opening of the Sheikh Rashid Road and Oud Metha Street junction, which included a seven-hundred-meter bridge with three lanes connecting Oud Metha Street—near Latifa Hospital—to Sheikh Rashid Road, thereby facilitating smoother cross-city travel.

Falcon Intersection Now Accommodates 28,800 Vehicles Per Hour

Complementing the Sheikh Rashid Road upgrades, the RTA has also completed the comprehensive development of the Falcon Intersection at the junction of Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road and Al Mina Street. This complex infrastructure enhancement includes three bridges and a tunnel, spanning a total of two thousand five hundred seventy-five meters and supporting a cumulative traffic capacity of twenty-eight thousand eight hundred vehicles per hour.

The project features two major bridges running along Al Khaleej Street. The northbound bridge extends seven hundred fifty meters, while the southbound spans one thousand seventy-five meters. Each direction accommodates six lanes, together managing a capacity of twenty-four thousand vehicles per hour.

Additionally, a one-lane bridge measuring two hundred fifty meters was introduced to facilitate right-turn movement from Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road to Al Khaleej Street, enabling up to one thousand six hundred vehicles per hour. A two-lane, five-hundred-meter tunnel was also constructed to serve left-turn traffic from Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road to Al Mina Street, with a capacity of three thousand two hundred vehicles per hour.

To further reinforce traffic efficiency, the project included the development of a signal-controlled surface intersection that connects Al Khaleej Street with Al Ghubaiba Road and Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road. This component enhances both traffic flow and accessibility across the surrounding districts, contributing to Dubai’s overarching vision for smarter, more resilient infrastructure.

Collectively, these projects reflect the RTA’s continued commitment to advancing Dubai’s transport network, accommodating future traffic demands, and supporting the city’s rapid urban expansion.

Infinity Bridge Emerges as a Striking Icon in Dubai’s Expanding Urban Network

Dubai’s cityscape has been elevated with the addition of the Infinity Bridge, a visually stunning and architecturally advanced structure completed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Renowned for its symbolic and futuristic design, the bridge features a striking arch shaped like the infinity symbol, soaring forty-two meters above the roadway and reinforcing its role as a modern city landmark.

Extending two hundred ninety-five meters in length, the Infinity Bridge accommodates twelve traffic lanes and includes a three-meter-wide cycling path, promoting both vehicular and non-motorized mobility. With the capacity to handle up to twenty-four thousand vehicles per hour in both directions, the bridge significantly enhances traffic efficiency across the city. It is positioned fifteen and a half meters above sea level, with a seventy-five-meter-wide marine passage beneath it that facilitates the safe movement of marine vessels into Dubai Creek.

Constructing the signature arch required approximately two thousand four hundred tons of steel, underlining the scale and engineering excellence involved in the project. The Infinity Bridge not only serves as a vital transit corridor but also reflects Dubai’s vision of fusing functionality with world-class design in its infrastructure planning.

Further enhancing connectivity, the RTA has developed a double-deck corridor linked directly to the Infinity Bridge. This extension allows for uninterrupted vehicular movement from Bur Dubai, crossing the bridge and continuing into Deira along Al Corniche Street, next to the Deira Wharfage area. The elevated section of this route consists of six lanes in each direction and stretches over one thousand seven hundred meters.

As part of this expansion, the route merges seamlessly with Al Khaleej Street to the north. Supporting infrastructure includes the development of ground-level roads with two lanes in each direction and the integration of several signalized intersections beneath the elevated roadway. These intersections offer convenient ingress and egress to and from the Deira Waterfront development, further enhancing urban accessibility and mobility.

With the Infinity Bridge and its adjoining roadway network, the RTA continues to demonstrate its commitment to future-forward infrastructure that not only addresses growing traffic demands but also contributes to the visual and architectural fabric of Dubai.

Al Khaleej Street Tunnel Project Advances with 30 Percent Completion Milestone

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced significant progress on the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel project, which has now reached thirty percent completion. This major infrastructure development stretches for approximately one thousand six hundred fifty meters, beginning at the end of the Infinity Bridge ramp in Deira and extending to the junction of Al Khaleej Street and Cairo Street.

Designed to streamline traffic in one of Dubai’s busiest corridors, the tunnel will feature three lanes in each direction and is engineered to handle up to twelve thousand vehicles per hour both ways. Once operational, it will play a vital role in reducing congestion and ensuring seamless connectivity between Deira and the Infinity Bridge.

As part of the broader initiative, the RTA is transforming the existing roundabouts at the intersections of Cairo Street and Al Wuheida Street into modern signal-controlled junctions. These modifications aim to enhance traffic flow and safety in the surrounding areas. Additionally, the project includes substantial upgrades along Cairo Street to improve roadway infrastructure and align it with the demands of increased traffic capacity.

Another key component involves integrating a new ramp from Dubai Islands with the northbound tunnel on Al Khaleej Street. This link will provide direct and efficient access to and from the newly developed areas, bolstering Dubai’s efforts to improve inter-district mobility.

Upon completion, the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel will ensure uninterrupted vehicle movement between the Infinity Bridge and central Deira, significantly benefiting nearby communities such as Abu Hail, Al Wuheida, and Al Mamzar. It will also support smoother access to several major destinations, including the Dubai Islands, Dubai Waterfront, the Waterfront Market, and Al Hamriya Port.

The tunnel project reflects the RTA’s ongoing commitment to delivering smart, high-capacity infrastructure solutions that accommodate Dubai’s rapid urban growth and contribute to long-term traffic management across the city.
