Dubai wins top global destination award third year running

Dubai reigns as the top global destination for the third year in Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best Awards, setting an unprecedented record.

Dubai has once again been recognized as the premier global travel destination, achieving first place in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations Awards for the third consecutive year, marking a historic first for any city.

This prestigious international recognition was bestowed by Tripadvisor®, the world’s foremost travel advice platform, as part of their 2024 Travellers’ Choice Awards for Best of the Best Destinations. The distinction is particularly meaningful as it is based solely on the opinions of countless global travellers who are part of the Tripadvisor community. These awards take into account both the quantity and quality of Tripadvisor reviews and ratings for accommodations, dining, and activities in destinations over the 12-month period from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023.

Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Visit Dubai), commented, “Dubai has been warmly welcomed by international travellers as a destination that is not only safe and easy to reach, but also rich in diversity, catering to various groups including families, adventure seekers, business tourists, and cultural enthusiasts. This has led to the recognition of Dubai’s unique experiences that are exclusive to the city.”

He added, “As we see shifts in consumer preferences and trends, we’ll leverage feedback from Tripadvisor and other digital platforms, as well as direct tourist feedback in Dubai, to continue upholding our high standards across all services and ensure visitors have an unparalleled Dubai experience.”

This top Tripadvisor honor adds to a series of global recognitions for Dubai. In 2023, Remitly, a financial services company, ranked Dubai as the best city globally for relocation. Additionally, Savills, a property consultancy firm, named it the top city for remote workers in its 2023 Executive Nomad Index. Dubai was also placed second in Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations Index 2023, and among the top ten in the Global Power City Index by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation’s Institute for Urban Strategies. Furthermore, the UAE was ranked the second safest country worldwide in 2023 by Numbeo. These accolades reinforce Dubai’s appeal as a leading global destination offering a unique lifestyle to its diverse population, underpinned by high safety and security standards.

Dubai’s repeated recognition as the preferred world travel destination highlights the city’s dynamic and varied offerings. With a blend of both luxury and affordable accommodations, dining options, numerous attractions, and cultural sites that honor its heritage, Dubai continues to draw international travelers repeatedly. The city’s unique blend of features has made tourism an essential part of its economic growth.

The city’s seamless entry procedures, excellent air connectivity, strong partnerships between public and private sectors, a globally acclaimed culinary scene, and a distinctive quality of life have solidified its position as the top travel choice. According to recent figures from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Dubai welcomed over 15.37 million international overnight visitors from January to November 2023, marking a 20% increase from the previous year. This achievement is in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, which aims to further elevate Dubai’s status among the top three global cities for business and leisure, and as the best city for visiting, living, and working in.
