Airline representatives from the UAE have issued warnings that upcoming flights may experience delays due to worsening weather conditions. Specifically, Etihad Airways, based in Abu Dhabi, has noted that the expected heavy rains on April 15-16 could lead to potential disruptions in flight schedules. The airline has committed to collaborating closely with affected passengers to modify their travel plans and ensure they reach their destinations with minimal inconvenience, as mentioned in a statement provided to Khaleej Times.

Passengers flying out of UAE airports, particularly from Dubai International (DXB), are encouraged to check updates regularly on the respective airlines’ websites and to allocate sufficient time for their journey to the airport. Flydubai, another major airline operating in the region, has recommended that travelers arrive at least four hours before their flight departure to avoid any last-minute rush, highlighting the severity of the expected weather disruptions.

The unstable weather, characterized by heavy rains and thunderstorms, began affecting all seven Emirates late Monday afternoon and is anticipated to continue through Tuesday in two waves, intensifying overnight. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued an advisory predicting that the heavy rainfall could lead to flooding and reduced horizontal visibility due to strong winds.

While Emirates Airline reported that its flights were operating as scheduled as of Monday evening, it has advised travelers to plan additional travel time to the airport due to possible delays on the roads. The airline emphasized the importance of completing check-in procedures online beforehand to streamline the airport experience.

In light of these conditions, Flydubai has expressed its commitment to minimizing disruptions and keeping a close watch on the weather developments, advising passengers to allow extra travel time to the airport and stay updated on the status of their flights through its website.

This heightened weather activity is not unprecedented in the region; just last month, heavy rainfall caused several flight cancellations and delays, with some inbound flights on March 9 being rerouted to nearby airports, demonstrating the significant impact such conditions can have on air travel in the UAE.
