Europe’s leading airline, easyJet, is set to inaugurate its new three-aircraft base in Birmingham ahead of schedule, resulting in an expanded flight offering from March 18, 2024. The additional aircraft have empowered easyJet to introduce 16 new routes, augmenting its network in Birmingham. This development means that alongside the existing 13 domestic and international services, easyJet will extend its Midlands operations to encompass 29 routes covering the UK, Europe, and North Africa. Marking its first base opening in the UK in over a decade, easyJet anticipates the creation of approximately 100 direct positions for pilots and crew, accompanied by over 1,200 indirect job opportunities. As the largest airline in the UK, easyJet presently employs around ten thousand individuals across England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
Customers in Birmingham and the Midlands now benefit from an enhanced array of choices for planning their 2024 holidays, with new routes commencing on March 18, 2024. Notable among these are year-round flights to Antalya and Barcelona (twice and thrice a week, respectively), Alicante, and Tenerife (twice a week), Larnaca (twice a week in summer), as well as Malaga and Enfidha (twice a week throughout the year), all commencing on subsequent days in March.
The expansion continues in April with the launch of year-round flights to Berlin (twice a week) and Sharm el Sheikh (once a week). An additional domestic connection to Jersey (twice a week) and a new summer route to Heraklion (once a week) are set to commence on April 2 and 3, respectively.
Further additions include a new route to Dalaman (twice a week in summer) and Fuerteventura (once a week throughout the year) starting on April 4. Towards the end of April and into May, easyJet introduces a fresh route to Rhodes (once a week in summer) on April 23, followed by summer routes to Corfu (twice a week) and Kos (once a week) starting on May 1 and 3, respectively.
