easyJet has issued a travel warning for British tourists due to ongoing train strikes in the UK, affecting various dates between December 1 and December 9.
The budget carrier provided information on its website, emphasizing the limited train services on strike days and the complete absence of train services to or from Gatwick Airport on December 6. The warning advises travelers to plan their journeys in advance, check Nationalrail.co.uk and Tfl.gov.uk for the latest travel updates, and, if possible, book alternative travel arrangements to and from the airport ahead of time.
The travel disruption stems from strikes by ASLEF’s train drivers, with 15 train operating companies expected to be affected by the industrial action until December 8. The strikes are scheduled for December 5, December 6, December 7, and December 8. The RMT union has voted to accept a deal, bringing an end to a prolonged strike campaign over conditions and pay.
easyJet’s proactive communication underscores the potential challenges faced by travelers during the strike period and emphasizes the importance of planning and seeking alternative travel options. This type of warning helps passengers make informed decisions and arrangements to minimize inconvenience during the disrupted travel period. As strikes can lead to increased demand for alternative transportation, advising passengers to book in advance contributes to a smoother travel experience amidst the challenging circumstances.
